Himachal Pradesh attained statehood on 25th January, 1971. Prior to this date, the function of Public Service Commission in respect of the civil services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh were being discharged by the Union Public Service Commission under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. It was, therefore, incumbent on the State to have its own Public Service Commission. However, since a State Public Service Commission could be constituted simultaneously with the attainment of Statehood, the Union Public Service Commission, on a request from the Governor of the State of Himachal Pradesh with the approval of the President of India, agreed to serve the needs of Himachal Pradesh till the establishment of a Public Service Commission for the State or for a period of three months from 25th January, 1971 whichever was earlier.

Staff Nurse – 10+2 preferably with Science from a recognized Board of School Education and Qualified “A” Grade Nurse (Diploma in GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized University/Institution.
Statistical Assistant – B.Com or B.Sc (Non-Medical)/B.A. with Economics / Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects or its equivalent from recognized University.
Medical Laboratory Technician Gr-II – 10+2 in Science or its equivalent from a recognized Board of School Education/University and One year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from an institution recognized by State Government. OR B.Sc Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Perfusionist – B.Sc. Degree in Perfusion Technology.
Laboratory Technician (Ayurveda) – 10+2 With Science and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology OR B.Sc Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Laboratory Assistant (Physics and Ballistic) – B.Sc. (Non-Medical) with Physics as one of the subjects

Marketing Assistant – MBA (Marketing) or MBA (Finance).
Junior Auditor – 2nd Class Graduate in Commerce or Economics or Business Administration from the recognized University.
Auditor (Panchayat) – 2nd Class Graduate from a recognized University
Computer Programmer (Panchayati Raj) – MCA or B.E./B.Tech. Degree in information Technology /Computer Science Engineering OR “B”Level Course from DOEACC/NIELIT Society.
Conductor (HRTC) – 10+2 pass from recognized Board of School Education/University or equivalent and who possesses valid Conductors license.
Clerk – passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent Should possess a minimum speed of 30 words per minute in English typewriting or 25 words per minute in Hindi Typewriting on computer.
Junior Scale Stenographer – Passed 10+2 examination and speed in Shorthand and Type writing in both the language i.e. English & Hindi.
Junior Engineer (Civil) – Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent.
Field Assistant – B.Com from recognized University.
